❓ Did you know that "Life Less Ordinary" was the very first official Rank 1 collaboration ever? Even though it didn't get an official release until mid-2007, back in May 2006 it was making huge waves in the Trance scene with a lot of support by the likes of Paul van Dyk! |
❓ Alex Mieling and Woodey van Edyen discuss all the ins and outs about this track on the ASOT Podcast recorded on June 14th 2024. |
❓ Woody had been involved with Rank 1 through A&R management on Clubgroove Recordings back in the day, so in 2006 he approached them about doing a collaboration with Alex. Alex had just made a demo with the Electro-driven core of what would eventually become the Life Less Ordinary we all know and love. Rank 1 agreed to the collab and added their iconic string arrangement. |
❓ Whereas Woody and Alex instantly fell in love with the final product, both Rank 1 and the label were less convinced about releasing it as a (stand-alone) single as they felt it worked better as an album track. It wasn't until Woody convinced Ferry Corsten to drop the promo at Cream in Ibiza, and the crowd went absolutely nuts to it, that Dick de Groot & the Rank 1 boys were convinced that this should become a single! Even Alex hadn't expect it to blow up the way it did! |
❓ Armin van Buuren picked Life Less Ordinary as Tune Of The Week on Episode #251 of his A State Of Trance radioshow which aired on Thursday June 1st, 2006. |
❓ Life Less Ordinary featured remixes by Rafael Frost and MEKK. |
